Volume

Money Flow Index (MFI)

MFI is like RSI but uses both price and volume (money flow) over 14 candles, on a 0-100 scale.

How to read it

  • Above 80 = overbought, below 20 = oversold.
  • Because it uses volume, it can show buying or selling pressure earlier than RSI.
  • Divergence between MFI and price is a common warning.

Settings

Default 14.

Example rule to test

Scan idea: stocks with MFI(14) below 20 that are still above their 200 SMA.

Common mistake

Using it on indices, which have no real volume in many data feeds.
