How to Practice Options Trading in India Without Losing Money

Buy and sell NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, SENSEX and stock options with virtual money from a live option chain, build strategies with a payoff chart, and replay past expiry days in the Time machine.

Why practice options first

Options move fast: premiums lose value every day (time decay), and selling an option can lose many times the premium you collect. Practising with virtual money shows how lot sizes, margin, Greeks and expiry really behave.

Option chain with OI, PCR and Greeks

The option chain shows calls and puts around the at-the-money strike with price, open interest, OI change and buildup (long buildup, short covering...), plus PCR, max pain, IV and Greeks (delta, theta, vega). Tap any premium to open its chart and trade it.

Strategies and payoff

The options strategy builder has ready-made straddles, strangles, spreads, iron condor and butterfly. It shows max profit, max loss and breakevens on a payoff chart, and can place all legs as a paper basket in one tap. A combined premium chart shows how a straddle or strangle moved during the day.

How to do it on iTradeChart

  1. Open the NIFTY (or any F&O stock) page and switch to the Option chain tab.
  2. Pick an expiry, tap a call or put premium and place a Buy or Sell order in lots.
  3. Or open Strategy builder, choose a ready-made strategy, check the payoff and place it as a basket.
  4. Market closed? Use Time machine → Options to trade a past day candle by candle.

Questions

Can I sell options in paper trading?

Yes. Margin is blocked like a broker (based on the underlying's price), and charges are deducted.

Which indices are available?

NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY, NIFTY NEXT 50, SENSEX and BANKEX, plus about 200 F&O stocks.

What happens on expiry?

Open options are settled automatically at their last price after expiry, like a real account.
